Revision limits by tier
Marcus doesn't count keystrokes or minor tweaks separately. A revision is logged each time you submit a natural-language instruction and Marcus applies changes to your project. The limit depends on your plan:
- Free tier: 20 revisions per project total, covering initial build and subsequent edits.
- Builder tier (€29/project/month): Unlimited revisions for that single project.
- Studio tier (€290/month): Unlimited revisions across all projects in your workspace, up to 25 projects.
Once you reach the 20-revision cap on the free tier, you'll need to upgrade to continue editing. You won't lose your project or history—it just locks further changes until you move to a paid plan.
What counts as a revision
A revision is triggered when you type an instruction—like "make the header blue" or "add a testimonials section"—and Marcus regenerates parts of your site. Small changes and large rewrites both count as one revision each. This keeps the system simple and predictable.
Actions that do not count as revisions include browsing your project in the editor, opening the preview, exporting a ZIP, or rolling back to an earlier version. Rolling back doesn't consume a new revision slot; it just restores a previous state from the version log.
Version history and rollback
Every revision Marcus applies is saved automatically. You can view the full history in your project dashboard and restore any earlier version with one click. This rollback feature is available on all tiers, including free, and doesn't count against your revision limit.
The version log shows a timestamp, a summary of what changed, and a snapshot of the project at that point. If an edit didn't turn out the way you wanted, you can step back without losing progress. This is especially useful when experimenting with layout or copy changes.
Managing revisions on the free tier
Twenty revisions is enough to build a functional five-page site and make a handful of adjustments. To make the most of the free tier, plan your edits before submitting them. Instead of "change the button color" followed by "actually make it darker," combine requests into a single instruction where possible.
If you're testing ideas or iterating heavily, consider starting on the Builder tier from the beginning. The €29/month cost per project removes the revision ceiling entirely, and you can downgrade or cancel anytime if the project is finished.
Unlimited means unlimited
On Builder and Studio, there's no hidden daily cap, no throttle after a certain number of edits, and no extra charge for heavy use. You can refine a homepage fifty times in one afternoon or make incremental tweaks over six months—it's the same price.
Marcus uses Anthropic Claude as the underlying model, and we've structured pricing to absorb normal editing activity without metering you. The only constraint is project count: Builder covers one project, Studio covers up to 25. Beyond that, contact us for enterprise workspace pricing.
Exporting and ownership
Every tier—including free—lets you export your project as a ZIP at any time. The export includes all HTML, CSS, and assets, with no obfuscation or lock-in. You own the code outright. Exporting doesn't count as a revision and doesn't affect your ability to keep editing inside Marcus afterward.
If you hit the free-tier revision limit and don't want to upgrade immediately, you can export the project, host it elsewhere, and return to Marcus later if you decide to continue development. Your version history remains intact for 90 days on the free tier, indefinitely on paid plans.
